From the makers of The Missing, Baptise and The Tourist, Boat Story is a new thriller from Harry and Jack Williams and stars a raft of British acting talent from Vigil, Breeders and Baptiste. It follows two ordinary people who come across a haul of drugs and decide to sell and split the profits.
They fall into a murky world in Boat Story, which is said to be where The Tourist leaves off, the Williams brothers explain. The writers and Managing Directors of Two Brothers Pictures say: “We loved making The Tourist and Boat Story picks up where that left off - tonally at least. It’s a morality tale and a thriller and other things that make it hard to define even though we seem to be attempting to define it. It’s full of vulnerable, messed up and eccentric characters and we’ve cast some of our favourite actors to play them. We are excited to bring this to life along with our fellow directors.”

What's Boat Story about?
Boat Story is an action-thriller about two ordinary people whom the world has turned its back on, and whether they’re willing - or desperate enough - to do something crazy to get what they want in life. Pushed to the very edge, can they trust each other and get away with their lives and the money?
Unsuspecting leads Janet (Daisy Haggard) and Samuel (Paterson Joseph) as they clutch on to a haul of illegal drugs found on a shipwrecked boat. The pair can’t believe their luck as they agree to sell it and split the cash. But on their tail is a sharp-suited gangster known as ‘The Tailor’ (Tchéky Karyo).
Who's in the cast for Boat Story?
The new thriller stars Daisy Haggard (Back to Life, Breeders) and Paterson Joseph (Vigil, Noughts & Crosses), alongside Tchéky Karyo (Baptiste, The Missing), Joanna Scanlan (After Love, Notes on A Scandal), Craig Fairbrass (One Piece, Villain and Muscle) and Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia, House of the Dragon).
Is it a true story?
It is not... But, it has taken into consideration real events.
Harry Williams, who wrote and directed the series alongside his brother Jack Williams, explained that the idea for the tale ‘came from having seen articles about similar things involving large amounts of drugs washing up on shores somewhere’
"Most of the shows we come up with are through a series of conversations that we have with each other. This one, was what would we do if we had stumbled across a boatload of washed-up drugs?" he added.
Jack added: "Boat Story is a contemporary morality tale and the challenge we wanted to set ourselves was to say, how do you tell this story in a way that is going to feel fresh, original, and different?
"What we landed upon, was to make it a show about stories themselves, and why people tell stories and why people watch and enjoy them. There’s a meta layer to the whole show as well."
How can you watch Boat Story and how many episodes are there?
The six-part drama airs its first episode on Sunday, November 19. The second episode is on Monday, November 20.
The whole series is on iPlayer.
