BBC Michael McIntyre's The Wheel saw Keith Thomas from Llanelli scoop the £21,000 cash prize after a rather stressful game. The bus driver, who won Welsh bus driver of the year in 2019, was first to join the presenter and celebrities on the wheel during the show that aired on Saturday, October 14.

As he was welcomed onto the show, he introduced himself to the stars, which included Big Narstie, Ellie Taylor, Frankie Bridge, Harry Judd, Jonathan Ross, Richie Anderson and Vogue Williams, by saying: "I'm Keith Thomas, I'm an award-winning bus driver from Llanelli."

"I didn't know there were awards for bus drivers?" Michael responded, to which Keith said: "Well, in 2019 I was put in for Welsh bus driver of the year, which thankfully I won, and 18 days later I was put in for the UK bus driver award and I came second."

"What qualifies as being the second-best bus driver in this country?" Michael asked, as Keith responded: "Just being nice to people."

The Welshman went on to complete three categories during the quiz game before he lost his place on the wheel after getting an answer wrong. Fellow contestants Rachael and Vicky also got a chance to play, managing to clear the board between them and get to the final round, only to fail at the last hurdle.

By the time Keith had come back up to the wheel, there was only one category left, with Michael telling him: "This is it, this is the end of the show, there is one last chance to win tonight's show or there will be no winner, you are going to have to answer one question."

Asked what he'd spend the money on should he win, Keith said: "It would go to help my seven children and seven grandchildren and I would like to donate some to Crohn's & Colitis UK.

"I was very ill with ulcerative colitis, I almost died, I had a 10-hour operation to have my bowel removed, it gave me my life back and here I am on the wheel attempting to win £21,000."

Keith and Jonathan Ross were then given a question in the category of Children's Books. It asked: "Which animal accompanies the boy, the fox, and the horse in the title of Charlie Mackesy's 2019 illustrated classic?" The multiple choice answers included deer, owl, mole, and hare, with Jonathan and Keith answering mole correctly. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
