Fireworks lit up the sky above Cardiff city centre on Saturday, November 4, as the fifth Sophiaworks event began. From 7.15pm and for 25 minutes the sell-our crowd were treated to an impressive display of colour and sound to celebrate Fireworks Night, also called Bonfire Night and Guy Fawkes Day.

Described by organisers as the biggest fireworks night in Cardiff, Sophiaworks was back for a fifth time at Sophia Gardens, home of the Glamorgan cricket team. But on Saturday night it was the place to be to see a mesmerising display as well as enjoy an evening of live music and family entertainment, including funfair rides and even a chance for people to practice their cricket skills, and find out about the latest events in Wales by signing up to our What's On newsletter here

Members of the crowd who witnessed the display were praising the evening's entertainment across social media, one person said 'What another spectacular fireworks display from Sophia Gardens, we’ve been going for the last 3 years and they just keep getting better and better, even the rain didn’t spoil it'.

The evening was hosted by Nathan Wyburn and Wayne Courtney from Radio Cardiff and VisitCardiff.com and the site had numerous outlets providing a choice of food and hot drinks to keep people warm on a rather chilly evening.

Local charities were represented too, with City Hospice offering glow merch and glitter face paint to add even more colour and sparkle to the event.
