City centre transformed into carnival of colour as huge crowds turn out for 2023 Swansea Christmas Parade
There was an appearance from Santa himself

Tens of thousands of people watched Swansea city centre’s annual Christmas parade and switch-on. The free event put on by Swansea Council on Sunday featured dancers, bands, choirs, floats, inflatables, light-up characters, princesses and superheroes.
Santa Claus switched on the Christmas lights which include colour-changing ones in the trees along Oxford Street and Wind Street. There are also "illuminated icicles" around building canopies on Oxford Street, Whitewalls and Union Street. Lamppost columns around the city centre are lit with 2m-high gold and silver items.
Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “It was one of Swansea’s biggest Christmas parades, attracting a massive crowd, and it was hugely well received by those who attended. Many Swansea groups and communities took part and I thank them all for their input and hard work in helping to make it a success."

The two main Christmas trees are in Castle Square and outside the Dragon Hotel. Waterfront Winterland at Museum Park has opened with an ice rink, funfair, big wheel and an "alpine village" food and drink area. And the outdoor Swansea Christmas Market is due to run from November 24 to December 20.
