Northampton Saints bagged arguably the try of the season so far with a magnificent 70-metre effort in the Gallagher Premiership.
Saints took on Leicester Tigers at Welford Road last weekend, and despite falling to a 26-17 loss, there was a silver lining for the East Midlands club.
With the game won for Tigers after 83 minutes, Saints launched an almighty attack to finish with a flourish against their derby rivals. Starting roughly on their own 22-metre line, the team completed 14 passes to traverse almost the full length of the field in just 36 seconds.
The offloading on display was sumptuous to say the least, but a special mention has to be given to try-scorer and Fijian interntional Sam Matavesi. The hooker completed an excellent dummy pass and gassed around the final defender to touch down.
TNT Sports commentator Nick Mullins was in awe of the effort: "This would be some score if they manage to finish this one off. Sam Matavesi, and that is an absolute beauty! Sam Matavesi - one of the scores of the season.
"They're not heading back down the M1 with a win, but they are heading back down the M1 with one of the scores of the season. That's determination. That's heart. That's what Northampton can do."
The effort has amassed over 200,000 views on X and TikTok so far, and is fast climbing. Fans have been loving the score, and even former England international James Haskell commented with the clapping emojis.
"Wowser that’s impressive." said one.
