Carwyn Jones has a new role - as a director on the board of his boyhood rugby club. The former First Minister has kept busy with media appearances and an academic career after leaving office, and reportedly interviewed for one of the biggest jobs in rugby several months ago.
He has now been announced as a director of Indigo Premiership rugby club Bridgend Ravens (formerly Bridgend RFC), based in the constituency he represented in the Senedd for more than 20 years from 1999 to 2021. A lifelong fan, he said it was a "great honour" to join the board.
In a statement via the club, he said: "I’m looking forward to help build a sustainable future for a club that I’ve supported for nearly fifty years. Bridgend has been an important area in the development of players at all levels of Welsh rugby and having a thriving Ravens is crucial to continuing that tradition."

A former barrister, Mr Jones joined Aberystwyth University as a law professor after stepping down as First Minister in 2018.
