When it comes to a coffee treat many of us have our favourites. And when Costa introduced its iced whipped latte in the summer it was an instant hit.
At the time one fan posted on Facebook: "It's amazing - the best drink ever." Karen added: "Tried a new drink today. Whipped caramel ice latte. 10/10!" Denise commented: "It tastes so good!"
But now fans have been left devastated after the firm discontinued the drink to make way for festive flavours. Ciaran sparked the debate when he asked the firm on X, formerly Twitter: "Why do some of your stores still do the ice whipped latte and some don’t?"
Costa replied: "Hey! This is part of our summer menu and shouldn't be served in store anymore as it's been discontinued." Ciaran told them: "Should of kept it year round it’s your best cold drink and especially as you have loads of stores those fun little machines to do them within."
And other fans of the drink agreed. Najma said: "They discontinued their whipped lattes????? The only thing they had going for them besides the salted caramel frappe."
The popular cold drink is made up of whipped coffee and milk. Then customers can have a choice of either vanilla, chocolate or salted caramel sauce.
When it was launched in the summer the coffee company said: "Costa Coffee knows how to make a great cup of coffee. Just because the heat has gone up, coffee lovers shouldn't miss out this Summer."
And it received a flood of comments on X. YeK said: "Costa knew what they were doing with that iced whipped latte."
Dan said: "Whoever at Costa came up with the iced whipped latte deserves a raise and 10 extra days of annual leave." And Jo said: "they're flipping lovely".
Wes said: "I’ve just had an iced whipped caramel latte from Costa and my life will never be the same." Imaaanox added: "Costa really snapped with that new whipped latte line."
But Jonny had a different take on the beverage. He described the chocolate version as: "like drinking liquified cake".
Fans will have to wait and see if it returns next year as it was part of the summer range. Instead, they can now try some of the Christmas flavours which are in the coffee shops.
While the iced whipped latte is off the menu it has been replaced with some more festive flavours. These include a sticky toffee latte - which also comes in an iced variety.
Other warm offerings include the gingerbread and cream latter and the roasted hazel latte. For hot chocolate fans, there are plenty to choose from including After Eight hot chocolate and Terry's Chocolate Orange hot chocolate.
