Shopping experts are warning Brits of the items they should 'avoid', or even 'blacklist', this Black Friday. The annual event is only a few days away now, with people who are hoping to bag themselves a bargain being urged to keep an eye out for 'fake' deals.
Experts at PriceSpy have compiled a list of deals on various products people should steer clear of after crunching the numbers. They first compared the average prices up to the end of October 2023 to those of the same period in 2022, then took the average savings, or price increase, found on Black Friday 2022, and applied those same figures to current 2023 prices.
By the end, they were able to offer predictions on how prices may look this Black Friday. They claim the items shoppers should be wary of and check prices of are: air fryers, trainers, hiking shoes, running shows, mobile phones and game consoles.
On the other hand, as reported by the Mirror, PriceSpy has also predicted the items that could be discounted the best, including TVs, perfume, headphones and Lego. For 2023, Black Friday will take place on November 24 - though some retailers have launched various early discounts and deals. You can see the 'blacklist' and 'buy' lists below.

Commenting on the research, Liisa Matinvesi-Bassett, UK country manager at PriceSpy, said: “It’s likely that many products are going to be more expensive this Black Friday compared to Black Friday 2022. This isn’t to say that good, genuine deals won’t still be found, but some prices are still likely to end up being higher.
“Inflation is one reason to blame here and is, on many occasions, unavoidable. On top of that is the simple fact that Black Friday isn’t always the best day to buy - depending on what you’re after.
“The key point to focus on when shopping is ensuring that you’re not paying more on Black Friday than you would if shopping at a different time of year. Even if an offer looks attractive, if the product has been cheaper before, then chances are it’ll go down to that price again.”
