Masses of fans have rushed to offer their support to TV chef James Martin after he shared a message with followers on social media. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the ITV cook wrote a special thank you as he takes a break from his popular cooking show for more cancer treatment.
Jimmy Doherty will be leading the show as the 51-year-old takes time away from TV screens. It comes as the chef candidly admitted he has been 'going through a lot of s*** with cancer' during one of his shows in Liverpool recently.
However, he told the crowd he'll be "back fighting" come the end of February, according to the Mirror. In recent weeks, James has been performing music and hosting cooking demonstrations across the country as part of his UK tour
In a newly posted message to fans, he wrote: "I just wanted to take this chance to say thank you for all (and there have been thousands) of the amazing messages I’ve had over the last few weeks. It’s been a pleasure to be on the road with an amazing bunch, appearing night after night for a fantastic group of people… All of you!
"There are so many to thank Sam, Thatch, Dan, the whole crew, Richard, Seb, Ben, Cuffe & Taylor and all at Live Nation! It’s been a pleasure, 4 tours nearly done! The Palladium again tonight…ha, ha what?! Next, watch this space…now team let’s give it the beans for tonight and the last night! Sunday night at the Palladium, what an honour…xx."
Many fans rushed to reply, sending messages of love and support. DebLaughton commented: "Congratulations on such a successful tour James. You deserve every joy and happiness. Much love to you & your team."
GerryHall2 added: "Wishing you much health for the future we will miss you on Saturday mornings." Maurice_wylie put: "Hi James We wish you a successful fight against the Big C. We need you cooking on the box yo brighten our days and nights. You are real Man."
CJHthePlumber penned: "All the best with you time going through the C, can't wait to see your new projects after you've beaten it stay safe James all the best." GaldiesL typed: "Look after yourself."
The Ready, Steady, Cook! star first opened up on his skin cancer diagnosis on his face in 2018. While at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall last week, he reportedly told the audience: "On a personal note, I just wanted to say thank you for 30 years of television.
"For me personally, I've been through a lot of s*** with cancer but I'm getting sorted at the end of next month. I will be back fighting at the end of February but I'm going on a little bit of a break to get that sorted.
"I just wanted to say thank you for all your support and all your messages." James has previously had surgery to remove the cancer but said it has "returned on several occasions" and he has to have "regular treatments".
According to NHS, the main symptom of non-melanoma skin cancer is a growth or unusual patch on the skin. Any part of your skin can be affected, but it's most common in areas exposed to the sun, such as the: head, face and ears, neck and shoulders, back, hands and lower legs.
