Gamers disappointed at missing out on a huge Amazon Black Friday deal to save hundreds on the Meta Quest can pick the award-winning VR headset up even cheaper thanks to a new deal from Very.
Amazon has kicked off Black Friday week with thousands of huge discounts on everything from tech to household essentials, but one of the earliest deals that caused a bigger stir saw gamers able to get a Meta Quest 2 128Gb plus a £50 Amazon gift card for £249.99 in a Black Friday bundle.
Amazon's Meta Quest 2 deal went live on Friday morning with the retailer announcing it was due to run for up to ten days or while stocks lasted, depending on which happened first. However, it had had sold out completely by this morning after the offer, which worked out at a massive 44% discount on the RRP, gained attention from bargain hunters on social media and bargain hunting forums like Hot UK Deals.
But Shoppers disappointed at missing out on the discount needn't despair as it's actually possible to get the Meta Quest 2 for £199 at Very if shoppers act quickly and use a special code at check out as part of their Black Friday deals, actually £50 cheaper than Amazon's offer - although obviously you don't get a gift card included in the bundle.
On the Very site, Meta Quest 2 is listed at £249.99, but shoppers who buy the headset before November 27 and use the code VKEXL will get £50 credited back to their card or account, meaning the end price paid will be £199.99, although the retailer warns 'if you return the item the £50 credit will be reversed.'
With Amazon's deal now showing as 'currently unavailable, we don't know when or if this deal will be back in stock,' Very is the best place for gamers to get a deal on Meta Quest 2 right now, although with the Very site sale warning that the product is 'selling fast, with more than 100 purchased in the last 48 hours' it's unclear whether stock will last the duration of their sale.
The Meta Quest 2 allows you to experience total immersion with 3D positional audio, hand tracking and haptic feedback, working together to make virtual worlds feel real. You can also free roam in VR with a wireless headset, intuitive controls, a built-in battery, easy setup and no PC or console needed.
The Meta Quest 2 first launched back in 2020, and was known then as the Oculus Quest 2 before getting rebranded.
While die-hard gamers might be keen to buy the latest generation of the headset, Meta Quest 3, the launch of the higher spec version has seen some excellent deals on the earlier version of the gadget.
The latest version of the award-winning VR headset, Meta Quest 3, finally launched in the UK on October 10 and is available to buy on Amazon as well as other tech retailers like Currys and Very as well as more surprising retailers like mobile phone firm EE.
Gamers were quick to praise the upgraded 4K+ display, 3D audio and doubled processing power of the Quest 2, with reviewers praising the visuals as being so real you could reach out and touch them.
Meta's new headset comes with Asgard's Wrath 2, which is worth £44.99. The original Asgard's Wrath transforms the player into the next Asgardian god, making you fight, solve puzzles, and transform animals into warriors. It's got 4.5 stars on Meta's website with one person writing "This is one of the best VR games I've played."
