Many Glastonbury Festival fans have been left fuming after a sudden decision was made by organisers to delay the ticket sales by a couple of weeks. The choice came after the festival reportedly received a number of complaints about the registration access.

Glastonbury asked people who had pre-registered for ticket sales prior to 2020 to review their details to ensure they would be eligible for upcoming releases, or they risked their information being deleted. The festival first sent out an email in August informing those with pre-2020 registrations to update and amend their details, giving the deadline of September 30.

The deadline was then extended to Monday, October 30, to ensure that people could either update or sign up for a new registration. Prospective ticket buyers now have until 5pm on Monday, November 13 to re-register.

Instead of this weekend, ticket sales will now take place on Thursday, November 16 at 6pm for tickets and coach travel, and Sunday, November 19 at 9am for general admission. The official Glastonbury Festival account on X told followers: “This year's Glastonbury ticket sale has been moved back by two weeks. This is to ensure that everyone who would like to buy a ticket is registered and therefore eligible to purchase one.

“The new dates for Glastonbury ticket sale are as follows: TICKETS PLUS COACH TRAVEL ON SALE AT 6PM GMT, THURSDAY, 16TH NOVEMBER, GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS ON SALE AT 9AM GMT, SUNDAY, 19TH NOVEMBER.

“Following this year's Festival, we alerted everyone with a registration which pre-dated 2020 of a scheduled review of the details held by See Tickets in the Glastonbury Festival registration database. This was in order to ensure that the details we hold are current and that we do not store individuals' information for any longer than is necessary. These registrants were asked to take action to confirm their registration if they wished to keep it.

“As always, registration was then closed on Monday (30th October) ahead of the ticket sale. Unfortunately, it has come to light that some individuals hoping to buy tickets for 2024 have discovered after Monday's registration deadline that they are no longer registered, despite believing they were.

“Out of fairness to those individuals, we will be re-opening the window for registration at 12 noon on Monday, 6th November. It will remain open until 5pm on Monday, 13th November. We urge everyone hoping to buy a ticket to Glastonbury 2024 to either check their existing registration https://glas.to/lookup now or submit new registration, which remains free of charge, at https://glastonburyregistration.co.uk, from 12 noon on Monday.

“We apologise for the late change to the ticket sale dates, but we want to ensure that everyone who would like to buy a ticket for next year's Festival is able to confirm their registration ahead of the sale.”

The post received over 1.1million views, with hundreds of likes, at the time of writing. However, the decision to delay sales divided fans, some of whom argued that the delay wasn’t fair on applicants who’d reviewed and amended their details before the deadline.

Will Gavin replied: “What about out of fairness to the people who were organised enough to sort it out before Monday?” Sophie Thomson wrote: “Oh no it’s cool it’s not like we all cancelled our plans and have sat with anxiety all day so you can play your silly little fairness game.”

Joey Steel said: “Bit mad it’s at such short notice, had taken time off work to be able to try tonight and Sunday. Understand it’s out of fairness but we all had the same notice and it’s not like there was multiple notifications sent to everyone." Olivia Bridge commented: “This is really unfair @glastonbury for those of us who registered in advance and have made plans for the ticket sale tonight.

"It's taken some serious planning. Actually frustrating because the new ticket sale dates aren't suitable for most of my group, so I guess we're not going.” Erin wrote: “Please actually make the registration work! As currently it just brings up retrieving old accounts and mine got deleted!”

Others thanked the organisers for the delay, hoping to rectify their lost registrations. Dylan simply said: “Thank you!” Hodgy wrote: “Pleased to hear this. I only found out yesterday mine had been cancelled (used old email address so didn’t get reminders)."

Rick Ellis added: “Think there was an issue with it. Because I confirmed that I wanted to keep my account registered. Then it was removed anyway and I had to reregister.”

Glastonbury Festival was contacted for comment and had nothing further to add.
