I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is not for the faint-hearted and a former finalist has revealed that he almost quit on his first night in the jungle. Jake Quickenden, former footballer turned TV star, was runner-up in 2014. Speaking on ITV1 morning show Lorraine, Jake revealed he struggled when he first entered the camp in Australia.

Jake said: "I almost left the first night. I was a bit overwhelmed and I feel like you never see the real people on the first night because everyone is so over the top and loving it. I remember just being next to Edwina Currie and her being fast asleep, snoring, spiders crawling around on the tent roof and I thought I've made a huge mistake here."

Jake entered the jungle on day five of the 2014 series and went on to become runner-up to winner Carl 'Foggy' Fogarty. Since then he has taken part in Dancing on Ice and stripped naked live on air to have his testicles examined.

The 2023 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has kicked off and just minutes into the first episode on Sunday, November 19 presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly took aim at former politician Nigel Farage. The presenters made the savage dig as they appeared to confront the backlash head-on.

Speaking to viewers at home, Dec said: "There's the man who's got everyone talking. Nigel Farage," before Ant interjected: "Nigel now, not just known for his controversial political career, he's also got his own show on GB News."

"Now, of course, he won't be presenting that show over the next three weeks. So we'd like to take this opportunity to apologise to all of GB News viewers," Dec continued, before Ant then stepped in and quipped directly to the camera: "Sorry Keith, sorry Linda."
