Lidl has been crowned the cheapest supermarket to purchase ingredients for a vegan-friendly Christmas dinner in 2023. Consumer finance experts at Little-Loans.com conducted research into the price of key vegan Christmas dinner staples from the UK’s biggest supermarkets.

The items included in the Christmas dinner comparisons were:

  • Nut roast

  • Parsnips

  • Roast potatoes

  • Carrots

  • Brussel sprouts

  • Red cabbage

  • Cranberry sauce

  • Stuffing

  • Vegan-friendly gravy granules

If you are looking to cook the ultimate vegan Christmas dinner, minus the hefty price tag, Lidl is the place to shop. A full Christmas dinner comes in at just £8.83, making the supermarket one of five stores where you can pick up all your ingredients for under £10.

Ranked as the most expensive is M&S, with ingredients costing nearly double that of Lidl, at a whopping £16.80. Sainsbury’s was the only supermarket where, at the time of purchasing, a loyalty card reduced the price of the selected Christmas dinner items. With a Nectar card, we saved 70p, bringing the total down to £9.51- marginally beating Asda’s prices.
