Officers are appealing for information after a 40-year-old man was taken to hospital following a crash in Newport. Gwent Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident on East Dock Road at around 6.50pm on Thursday, November 9.

The police force was called to the scene after receiving reports of a crash between a car and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 40-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injures, they said. For the latest Newport news, sign up to our newsletter here.

The driver reportedly left the scene following the collision. According to Gwent Police, the car is believed to be a dark coloured Mercedes AMG. A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "Officers are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage following a road traffic collision on East Dock Road, Newport, at around 6.50pm on Thursday, November 9."

They added: "Enquiries are ongoing and we’re asking for anyone who witnessed the collision or any motorists with dashcam footage that were using East Dock Road between 6.30pm and 6.50pm to contact us." If anyone has any information in regards to the incident, they've been asked to get in contact with Gwent Police.
