Gwent Police are appealing for information to help them identify a driver to assist their investigation into a fatal crash. The incident, involving an e-scooter and a blue Vauxhall Corsa, happened on the A4042 in the early hours of Saturday morning, September 30.

The rider of the e-scooter, a 26-year-old man from Newport, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His next of kin are currently being supported by specialist officers, the police force said.

Officers investigating the collision are now looking to speak to the driver or occupants of a small-light colour car that may be able to assist them with their investigation into the road traffic collision. They have stressed that the driver of this car is not believed to be involved in the collision, but may hold information which could assist them in their enquiries.

In a statement shared on their website on Wednesday, October 4, the police force said: "Officers investigating the collision would like to speak to the driver or occupants, of a small, light-coloured car - possibly grey or silver with a black roof - that was seen in the area at the time and may be able to assist with the investigation.
