Some of the UK's largest retailers have recalled products due to health and safety concerns. Among the products being withdrawn are Morrison's own-brand of gluten-free cereal, an Asda baby dungaree set, and a plant-based tikka masala from Tesco.
Issues with the products range from undeclared allergens to choking hazards and risk of injury as well as other reasons. When a product is recalled for any reason the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI), Office for Product Safety & Standards, and/or the Food Standards Agency share details on what people should do if they've bought the item and also explain why the product is being pulled from shelves.

Harry Potter, Barbie, and Gabby's Dollhouse hot water bottles
A company is recalling four hot water bottles as a "precautionary safety measure". Hunter Price International Limited has urged customers to return its Harry Potter, Barbie, and Gabby's Dollhouse hot water bottles.
The affected products are:
- Harry Potter Hogwarts Black Hot Water Bottle. Item code and PO number: 15271 / PO 06378
- Harry Potter Grey Print Hot Water Bottle. Item code and PO number: 22166 / PO 06378
- Barbie Pink Patch Hot Water Bottle. Item code and PO number: 22168 / PO 06378
- Gabby's Dollhouse Hot Water Bottle. Item code and PO number: 22167 / PO 06378
The company said in a notice: "Our supplier is recalling the above hot water bottles as a precautionary safety measure. Anyone who bought the listed products should stop using the item immediately and return it to their nearest store for a full refund. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. For further information please contact your local store or contact Hunter Price International Limited on Tel: 0161 6531306 or customer service info@hunterprice.co.uk."
Morrisons - Free From Gluten Choco Crackles
Morrisons has recalled one of its own-brand cereals because it contains three allergens not mentioned on the label. The supermarket has withdrawn a batch of Morrisons Free From Gluten Choco Crackles because it contains hazelnuts (nuts), milk, and gluten-free oats.
This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts), an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, and/or an allergy to oats (that are gluten-free) according to a notice issued by the Food Standards Agency. The product in question is the 300g pack with a best before date of September 18, 2024. Morrisons has said in its notice to customers: "Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don’t need a receipt. No other products are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety."
Pure Electric - Pure Advance, Pure Advance+ and Pure Flex E-scooters
Three models of electric scooters have been recalled as they present a risk of injury. E-scooter brand Pure Electric has withdrawn its Pure Advance, Pure Advance+ and Pure Flex E-scooters, which were made in China and sold between March 1, 2023, and October 10, 2023.

A notice issued by the Office for Product Safety and Standards reads: "Pure Electric has identified a potential problem with the toggle that is used to release and fold the handlebars. The products present a risk of injuries as the toggle that is used to release and fold the handlebars may fold whilst riding causing an accident."
The notice adds that Pure Electric is carrying out corrective action and has launched a modification programme. On its website the company advises customers to stop riding their E-scooters immediately if they are from the affected batches and has prepared an instructional video providing guidance on how customers can check their E-scooter for the potential issue.
Tesco - Plant Chef Sweet Potato and Chickpea Tikka Masala
Tesco has recalled a product from its plant-based range because it might contain milk which is not declared on the label. The supermarket has taken its Plant Chef Sweet Potato and Chickpea Tikka Masala off the shelves as it may pose a health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, according to a notice issued by the Food Standards Agency.
The affected product is the 400g pack with batch code L23215S and a best before date of August 31, 2024. In a notice to customers Tesco said: "Please do not consume this product and return it to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required. Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused. If you require further details, please contact Customer Services directly on UK: 0800 505 555 ROI: 1800 248 123."
River Island - Baby Girls Pink Peplum Quilted Snowsuit
River Island has recalled a children's outfit as it presents a risk of choking. The fashion brand has withdrawn its Baby Girls Pink Peplum Quilted Snowsuit, which is a pink baby snowsuit with silver poppers and a white fur hood.
The item in question has product code 458873 and was sold between August 2023 and October 2023. In a notice on its website River Island said: "It has come to our attention that this snowsuit does not meet our usual high standards for quality and safety as the silver poppers may become loose, which could present a choking hazard for children. As customer safety is our highest priority we are immediately recalling this style. Please note this recall does not affect any other River Island product with poppers."
The notice added: "If you have purchased these items: stop wearing/using the product immediately. Keep product away from children. For both instore and online purchases please return the whole product to your nearest store. If you have any queries please contact our customer service team."
Asda - Babywear Two-piece Short Dungaree Set
Asda has also withdrawn a children's outfit as it presents a choking hazard. The supermarket has recalled its George/Asda-branded babywear two-piece short dungaree set in charcoal, green, and turquoise.
The affected clothing has product codes 7598627, 7598624, and 7598920 and all sizes have been recalled. In a notice Asda said: "The babywear two-piece short dungaree set in charcoal, green, and turquoise have been recalled as a precaution for safety reasons. It has been identified the button attachment strength does not meet our standard. The button could be a choking hazard if it became loose. The product code can be found on the care label inside the dungaree."
It added: "If you have purchased this product please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda customer relations – 0800 952 0101."
