Dalman reveals club's first priority in January

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has said the club's top priority in the January transfer window is to comply with profit and sustainability regulations as the Bluebirds look to build their squad for the back end of the season.

Manager Erol Bulut has spoken regularly about the need to add three or four players in the new year and last week said he is confident owner Vincent Tan would be backing him and the club in their transfer dealings in January.

However, in a meeting with Cardiff City Supporters' Trust on Saturday, Dalman said the club would need to chase money which it is owed in order to ensure they can work within the budgetary requirements stipulated by the league. Bulut has also spoken about offloading players in January which is likely to help in this regard, with the likes of Andy Rinomhota and Romaine Sawyers seeing very little game-time at present.

In their summary of the meeting with Dalman, the CCST said the Bluebirds chairman was keen to improve their squad in the new year. They wrote: "A question was raised from the floor about the prospects of signings in the January transfer window. Mehmet stated that the club’s first priority was to remain compliant with profitability and sustainability.

"He stated that we are on budget to be compliant but there was a need to convert budget to reality by ensuring monies owed to the club are paid. Subject to these provisos the club are keen to improve the squad. The question was raised that, if a substantial offer was received for an existing player would the club accept it. The response from Mehmet was that everything is on the table but the club would be extremely reluctant to lose a player who was key to maintaining the current on field improvement."

Bulut angriest he's been at players

Erol Bulut said he was the angriest he has been at his players after the defeat by Norwich on Saturday afternoon.

City threw away a 2-1 lead and were hit with two goals - a Ryan Wintle own goal and an Adam Idah strike - late on, to hand under-pressure Canaries boss David Wagner an unlikely win from nowhere. Bulut spoke after the game to say he had been left disappointed by the lack of impact his substitutes made, but, in an interview with the BBC, said it's the first time he's had to get nasty with the players.

Asked if he had told the players off in the dressing room after the match, Bulut paused and said: "A little bit."

When asked if it's the first time he had been angry with them, he added: "Yes. Because we have worked really hard to be here and we cannot give these points away so easily. This makes me crazy. They have to understand it can't be like this. They have to understand that we can lose, that is not a problem, an opponent can be stronger than us, but not like this. The last 25 minutes, we cannot give to our fans."

Players speak out after 'difficult' Norwich defeat

Cardiff City players have taken to social media to vent their frustrations after the weekend's defeat by Norwich City.

The Bluebirds fought back from a goal down to go 2-1 ahead, but blew that lead in the last 15 minutes, shipping two goals in quick succession to hand lowly Norwich an unlikely win at the death. It put a real halt to Cardiff's positive form and saw them slip out of the play-off spots and into the ninth place in the Championship table.

Speaking on social media last night, Yakou Meite, who flew to Paris after the game, said: “Difficult to accept that defeat yesterday, but we win and lose together, focus on next game after the break to make it right.”

Callum Robinson, who scored and produced an assist against the Canaries, wrote: "Tough one to take after being ahead. Back better after the break." While left-back Jamilu Collins said: "Not the result we wanted yesterday but we stay positive and focus for the next one, and many thanks to all Bluebirds fans for always showing 100 percent support."

Meanwhile, both Robinson and Josh Bowler were featured in the official Championship Team of the Week, despite being on the losing side of the match with the Canaries.

Perry Ng latest

Erol Bulut revealed right-back Perry Ng missed the defeat by Norwich owing to a small injury.

Ng has arguably been Cardiff's best player this season and his absence was felt keenly against the Canaries. Although Mahlon Romeo defended manfully in his stead, Norwich did have a lot of joy down his side. But, on a more positive note, it seems it was only a small training-ground injury which forced Ng to miss Saturday's match.

"I don't think it is serious, he had a kick on his knee in training and the medical department said he was not available," Bulut said after the game on Saturday evening.

Bulut also said Mark McGuinness' visibly black eye was sustained during the Bluebirds' draw with Stoke City.

Ex-Bluebirds managers in mix for Rotherham job

Four ex-Cardiff City managers are in the mix to become the next Rotherham United boss, according to the latest odds.

The Millers pulled the trigger on Matthew Taylor's time in charge of the club following their 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Watford on Saturday, a result which leaves them 22nd in the table above only QPR and Sheffield Wednesday.

It might be no surprise to some that Neil Warnock, formerly of this parish, of course, is the favourite to take over a club he steered clear of relegation back in 2015. He is at 5/1 with OLBG. While Sabri Lamouchi (20/1), who has been jobless since leaving Cardiff in the summer, and Neil Harris (25/1), who left Gillingham earlier this season before being linked with the Bristol Rovers job, are a little further down the pecking order.

Bringing up the rear is Mick McCarthy (50/1), who was sacked by Blackpool last season and has been unemployed since.
