Rino called up by Zimbabwe
Cardiff midfielder Andy Rinomhota is finally set to make his Zimbabwe debut after being called up to the national squad for the first time in his career.
The 26-year-old was born in Leeds but qualifies to represent the African country through his father. He was previously contacted by the Zimbabwean FA about playing for them, but he was injured at the time and never went through the process of formerly assigning himself to the country.
Speaking last year, he said: "The time they called me up I was injured. Since then it would be an issue of applying for a Zimbabwean passport. I haven't gone around that process yet, but it’s something I will look into.
"AFCON is a great platform to showcase your abilities. It’s another experience and another side to my game I could add, getting international experience. I haven't looked at it too in depth, but I think I'd have to get a Zimbabwean passport."
Now, he will get the opportunity to do so - and could come up against fellow Bluebird Jamilu Collins in the process. Zimbabwe take on Rwanda in the first fixture before playing Nigeria on November 19 in a World Cup qualification clash.

Ramsey's kid officially joins the academy
Aaron Ramsey's boy, Sonny, is officially part of the Bluebirds' academy.
Sonny signed a pre-contract, so to speak, with Cardiff's academy in the summer, the same day his old man joined the club. The contract would become valid when Sonny turned eight and today is that day.
Posting on Instagram, Bluebirds playmaker Ramsey made a birthday post for Sonny along with a photo of them together. The Wales captain spoke in the summer about how special it was to return to his boyhood club and have his son sign on the same day.
"That was unbelievable," he said in July. "What an unforgettable day for both of us. To see him sign his first contract was really special. It brought back a lot of memories from when I started that way.
"It's just great to see. Obviously, me coming through that academy and progressing the way I I did. To see my boy take that first step, a very proud moment."
And now it's official, Sonny is a bona fide member of the Bluebirds academy.
Malky axed
Ross County have sacked ex-Bluebirds manager Malky Mackay after a poor start to the season sees them joint-bottom of the Scottish Premiership.
Mackay impressed during his first season in charge in Dingwall but needed a dramatic playoff final comeback against Partick Thistle to keep them up last season. The club have thanked him for that 'historic' fightback but felt a change was required after eight league games without a win leaves them on 10 points, ahead of Livingston only on goal difference.
A Ross County statement said: "Ross County Football Club can today announce that it has parted company with manager Malky Mackay. Malky joined the club in the summer of 2021 and had great success in leading the team to a top six finish and a manager of the year nomination in his first season.
"His determination and drive to succeed was a contributing factor in saving Ross County from relegation at end of season 2022/23 with the now historic penalty shoot-out play off win against Partick Thistle in Dingwall. But, after a meeting between Malky, Chairman Roy MacGregor and CEO Steven Ferguson, the club have decided that a change is now required."
Cordina wants CCS fight
Huge Bluebirds fan Joe Cordina wants his next fight to be at Cardiff City Stadium.
The 31-year-old successfully defended his IBF super-featherweight title against Edward Vazquez in Monte Carlo and has said he is open to taking on WBA featherweight champion Leigh Wood. However, WBO champion Emanuel Navarrete and WBC belt holder O'Shaquie Foster are also in the mix.
Speaking about the venue for his next bout, he told the BBC: "It would be amazing. When I got into boxing, the first thing I wanted to do was to fight at the Millennium [Principality] Stadium - because [Joe] Calzaghe boxed there - but to fight at the home of the team I support, what more do you want?
"If I don't do that before I retire it'll absolutely kill me but I'm just going to push until we get to that. I've got a big following anyway, but with the Cardiff City Stadium I would need the right dancing partner and Leigh Wood is the right dancing partner for that. That would sell."
