Striker on radar
Swansea and league rivals Huddersfield Town have been credited with interest in Newport County attacker Will Evans. Publication teamTALK report Evans' early-season form has attracted admirers, including the Swans and Terriers.
A January move for the in-form man has been mooted by the outlet. He was the first player in the EFL to reach 10 goals this term. The Welshman has 12 to his name so far this campaign.
Swansea have made "regular checks" on the 26-year-old, who is out of contract in Newport next summer. A January move, therefore, could be appealing to the Exiles. His manager, Graham Coughlan, says Evans' story is one worthy of Hollywood.
“Will Evans should have been in the Welsh squad. I watched Wales [against South Korea] and I just don’t know what people are seeing, what people are thinking,” County boss Graham Coughlan said in an interview in September.
“The big challenge for Will is consistency, doing it week in, week out. We’ve all heard of one-month wonders and I’ve every confidence in Will that he can maintain it and he can carry it on.

“We just don’t know how far Will can go, but it’s a great journey, it’s a great project, it’s a great story for all the young Welsh kids and all the Welsh Premier League players to have a look at. He’s now knocking on the door of a regular first-team slot at Newport County and he’s also knocking on the door of a Welsh senior international call up.
“That’s an unbelievable story, if Hollywood got a hold of that it would be a brilliant tale, but it’s how it carries on, how he kicks that on and brings it on to the next level. That’s the one we’ll all be sitting, waiting, and watching and there might even be a sequel to the first film.”
Ayew back in football
Swansea hero Andre Ayew is finally back in football. The Ghana international had been without a club since being released by Steve Cooper's Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.
He has now signed on for French club Le Havre and was unveiled in front of their supporters on Saturday. Le Havre are sixth in the Ligue 1 table after 12 matches. Luka Elsner's side are 12 points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
Ayew had joined Forest last February but only made 13 appearances for the Reds and only one was a start. Now, after a four-month break, the attacker is now back in Ligue 1, having had reported options from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and MLS.
He started his professional career Marseille before moving to Swansea in 2015 on a free transfer.
Fulton: Work to do
Swansea midfielder Jay Fulton says they will return to the training ground with plenty to work on during the international break after defeat to Ipswich Town
Michael Duff's men left East Anglia with nothing to show for their efforts, losing 3-2 despite taking the lead through Fulton himself. It's been an up and down opening quarter of the season for the Swans, who find themselves in 17th place in the Championship. After the upcoming Wales double header, there is a four-month clear run of domestic fixtures and Fulton says there is work to do.
“There’s plenty of stuff to work on during the break,” he said. “We’ll view the Ipswich game back and work on the things we need to improve.
“I think we’re disappointed with the spell at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half. We believed when we came here that we had the players to compete. We came up short in a couple of areas, but some of the performance was good.
“We’ll have a few days’ rest, but then we can get through the tactical work and the stuff that we need to work on.
“We’ll put the work in and then we’ll look forward to coming back against Hull."
Lowe demands consistency
Jamal Lowe believes his side need to start “performing consistently” if they want to be competing at the top end of the Championship table this season.
“It was a tough game. They’re one of the best teams in the league, they play good football and they can mix it up,” the forward told his club’s website.
“We could have played a bit more. I think they forced us into playing longer and that doesn’t suit us, we don’t have the personnel for that style of play. We started well and went 1-0 up, but the shackles went on at that point. It should be the other way around, you should go 1-0 up and the confidence should be high. That’s something we can work on and do better.
“I felt that we could have done a lot better with some of the goals. Jack Taylor’s goal is an unbelievable strike, but we probably should have defended better for the other one and the penalty.
“We dug deep after we went down to ten men and that kick-started our game again. Towards the end we got on top even though we had ten men and we almost scored with the last kick of the game, but it wasn’t enough in the end.
“We can’t wait until we’re down to ten men or two goals down before we step up and take the game to them. We need to have the confidence and mentality to play like that all the time.
“We showed character, but it wasn’t enough. We want to be right up there, and we feel we’ve got the players, staff and ideas to be up there. It’s just about performing consistently.”
