The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain in parts of Wales. On Wednesday, November 15, the forecaster predicted that heavy rain may cause some flooding and disruption to travel during most of Thursday, November 16.
The heavy downpour warning will be in place from midnight tonight (Wednesday) until 6pm on Thursday. UK areas that will be affected from the extreme weather condition include London and southeast England, southwest England and parts of Wales.
Those areas of Wales that will be affected include:
- Blaenau Gwent
- Bridgend
- Caerphilly
- Cardiff
- Carmarthenshire
- Merthyr Tydfil
- Monmouthshire
- Neath Port Talbot
- Newport
- Pembrokeshire
- Rhondda Cynon Taf
- Swansea
- Torfaen
- Vale of Glamorgan

The Met Office has warned that some parts may experience 10-20mm of rainfall, while other parts may experience 30-40mm. The warning reads: "A spell of rain, heavy at times, will move east across southern parts of England and the south of Wales during Thursday. "10-20 mm of rain falling widely with 30-40 mm possible near the south coast of England and over east facing hills. Strong winds, gusting 50 mph near coasts, will accompany the rain, with a small chance of gusts reaching 60 mph for the Isles of Scilly and west of Cornwall."
People in those affected areas are likely to experience spray and flooding on roads, which will make journey times longer, as well as bus and train probably affected and their journey times taking longer too. There could flooding of a few homes and businesses, as well as some interruption to power supplies and other services possible.
