A travel expert has revealed the seat you should always sit in on a flight for maximum comfort and hygiene. With the weather getting colder, millions of flyers will be jetting off on holiday for some much needed winter sun.
However, when it comes to booking their seats, experts say not every position on the aircraft is created equal, as some are more beneficial than others. According to a travel expert on View from the Wing, the "best flyers prefer aisle seats".
Gary Leff, named one of the World's Top Travel Experts, says: "Aisle seats are just better than window seats. And we don't even need to talk about the dreaded middle."
He explains: "If you're in the aisle seat you don't get those window seat views, but those are better in theory than practice outside of the first and final minutes of a flight." You do, however, have to get up to let people go to the toilet, so there are trade-offs which Leff says are "minor" compared to the benefits of sitting next to the aisle.
Typically, aisle seats cost the same as the rest of the other two seats in a row, but can get snapped up quickly when seat reservation opens up. Listing the six reasons why the aisle seat is the best on the plane, Leff said:
- You can spread out slightly into the aisle - giving yourself extra seat width
- You can control your own 'destiny' - you can get up for the toilet or to stretch whenever you need to without having to ask
- It's less claustrophobic - as you know you can get up when you want and you haven't got someone next to you on one side
- You can get up faster - when the plane comes to the gate you'll be able to move quicker
- You have access to overhead bins - you'll be able to reach up during the flight and quickly when you land
- Window seats don't get cleaned as well - Leff says this is because they're harder to reach
