Line of Duty and Trigger Point star Vicky McClure and Merthyr Tydfil filmmaker Jonny Owen have tied the knot six years after getting engaged. The couple, who run production company BYO Films, were surrounded by friends, family and, of course, a few famous faces at the Nottingham celebration.
Wearing a stunning off-the-shoulder Kate Halfpenny dress with a delicate veil, elegant lace-shawl and Bardot-style neckline, Vicky, 40, looked ecstatic as she and Jonny, 52, who was dressed in a dark blue suit, made it official at a ceremony in the Council House Civic Building on Friday, August 11.
After the official business was done, the couple partied with 300 guests at Nottingham's Metronome where the Dementia Choir, the charity choir Vicky created in 2018 after she saw her grandmother face the disease, sang their first dance song - In My Life by The Beatles.
Jonny told WalesOnline: "It was a brilliant day and wonderful to spend time with those we love the most from all over the world together under one roof. When we played the unofficial Welsh national anthem of It’s Not Unusual by Tom I thought the roof was going to come off."
The writer and filmmaker, who is also known for his work on football documentaries I Believe in Miracles (about Nottingham Forest) and Together Stronger, about Wales' football team, also revealed that the bride danced the night away in her wedding dress including to some '90s R'n'B. He added: "She looked incredible in her dress. She stayed in it all night and even managed to dance brilliantly to No Diggity by Blackstreet!"
The couple even managed to make a cameo on Jonny's daughter Katie's BBC Radio Wales show after the DJ hopped on the train back to Cardiff after the ceremony to do her 10pm show. "We're very proud that Katie left to get the train to do her radio show and she interviewed us live on air to break the story! She played us Happy Together by The Turtles."
As the party continued in Nottingham, the happy couple were joined by Vicky's co-stars of Line of Duty and This Is England including Martin Compston, Adrian Dunbar, Thomas Turgoose, show creator Jed Mercurio and film director Shane Meadows. TV host and comedian Paddy McGuinness and rock stars Gary Stringer and Jon McClure were also in attendance.
And with Jonny's connection to the beautiful game, there was a string of football faces at the celebration too, including Wales manager Rob Page and Everton manager Sean Dyche.
It has been a big few months for Vicky and Jonny, with their big day following Jonny's honorary doctorate ceremony at Swansea University last month and Vicky collecting her MBE earlier this year.
