Wales star Corey Domachowski was left blown away after returning from the World Cup as pupils at his daughter's school welcomed him back home in style.
The prop made his Wales debut against England this summer and was named in Warren Gatland's tournament squad with just two caps to his name. He more than doubled that tally out in France as he featured in all but one game, including the quarter-final defeat to Argentina.
A proud Valleys boy, the Cardiff Rugby star could have expected an emotional homecoming as he returned to normal family life, but even he was stunned by what he was met with on the school run on Wednesday morning. As he dropped his daughter off at school, Domachowski was hauled into the classroom by her teacher to talk to the children and take photos with him, as they serenaded him with Welsh songs. The 26-year-old was left bursting with pride as he reflected on the "lovely" experience in a post on X.
"What a lovely morning," he wrote. "Took my daughter to school and her teacher pulls me in the classroom to have a chat with the children and photos, all signing (sic) Welsh songs to me.
"Been an unreal experience that myself and family will never forget. Being from the Valleys makes me proud."
In a lovely added touch, Domachowski revealed that the teacher's husband had played a key role in getting him to where he is today, as he paid tribute to him and all those who had helped him at his hometown club of Gilfach Goch RFC.
"The teacher who called me into the classroom, her husband was my mini and juniors coach all the way through to youth rugby," the loosehead added. "Absolutely love my village @GowchRFC. Thanks to all that played a big part in me getting to play in a RWC QF. Now for a bit of family time."
After a well-earned rest, Domachowski will be looking to continue the fine form for Cardiff that saw him rewarded with a World Cup place. Having kept Rhys Carre out of the side for much of last season, he signed a new contract with the region in August.
