In the forthcoming ‘Conversation Series’ European Muslim Network will have the opportunity to talk with Prof. Dr. Amina Easat-Daas from De Montfort University, Leicester (UK) about some of the burning questions regarding the Muslim presence in Europe.

Some of the topics that we will discuss with Dr. Easat Daas are:

– What are the best and most creative strategies to combat Islamophobia
– Muslim political and other forms of participation in the European societies
– Anti-Muslim hatred and the rise of far-right movements and politics in Europe and worldwide
– Gendered dimensions of Islamophobia,
– Different manifestations of Islamophobia across Europe

Speaker: Dr. Amina Easat-Daas

Dr Amina Easat-Daas is an Early Career Academic Fellow and lectures in politics in the school of Business and Law at De Montfort University, Leicester (UK). Prior to this, Dr Easat-Daas worked on EU funded Counter-Islamophobia Kit project at the University of Leeds (UK). She is currently engaged in research centred on ‘Creatively Countering Islamophobia’ and is examining the use of Muslim-led and Muslim-centred festivals in the city as an anti-racist and counter-Islamophobia tool. As such, Dr Easat-Daas has recently become an Ambassador for the non-profit organisation, Milton Keynes Islamic Arts and Culture (MKIAC).
Dr Easat-Daas regularly writes around her research areas and her forthcoming publications include her monograph entitled ‘Muslim Women’s Political Participation in France and Belgium’ which will be published as part of the Palgrave Macmillan Series, New Directions in Islam.
