EMN Conversation Series: Presidential Elections in USA – Main issues and implications on Muslim communities in the US and Europe

In the next ‘Conversation Series’ European Muslim Network will have the opportunity to talk with Dr. Ermin Sinanović from Shenandoah University (USA) about the heated elections in the USA on the 3rd of November.
Some of the topics that we will discuss with Dr. Ermin Sinanović are:
– Current developments and key issues across the American society and political system
– Implications for Muslim communities in the US
– Considerations for Muslim communities in Europe
Ermin Sinanović is the executive director of the Center for Islam in the Contemporary World (CICW) at Shenandoah University, where he is also a Scholar in Residence. Before joining CICW, he was director of research and academic programs at the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), and an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He was also a faculty associate in research, Southeast Asian Program at Cornell University. Sinanović studied for a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Political Science at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University. He obtained two bachelor’s degrees (one in the Qur’an and Sunnah Studies, the other in political science) from the International Islamic University Malaysia, and a master’s degree (Islamic civilization) from the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
