Bonfire Night is around the corner and every year, thousands of people of all ages flock to their local sports grounds and the Swansea waterfront to feast their eyes on colourful displays lighting up the sky. This year, the main Swansea display is back at the St Helen's ground in Bryn Road, Brynmill, and will be 'Night at the Movies'-themed - with awesome glow entertainers, movie-themed attractions and walkabout acts set to join the crowds!
Elsewhere in the city, Dunvant RFC is hosting its 13th annual fireworks display on Friday, November 3, Morriston Town AFC is bringing back its popular display on Saturday, November 4, and Pontardawe RFC is marking Bonfire Night on November 5 itself.
And in Gower, Bishopston Community Council is presenting its annual fireworks display on Murton Green on Saturday, November 4 and the King Arthur Hotel in Reynoldston is offering live music, an outside BBQ and a fireworks display on November 5. Scroll down for the full details of all these displays - and get in touch if you're organising a community display that's not on our list. Swansea Fireworks Display - November 5
As we reported earlier this month, Swansea Council is bringing the main Swansea Fireworks Display back to St Helen's ground in Bryn Road, Brynmill, after a few years away. For years, the ticketed family-friendly event with entertainment and an impressive, colourful display, was held at the grounds, before it was moved onto Swansea beach for a couple of years and made free.
But, for 2023, the event is returning to St Helen's and will be ticketed - though Swansea Council has said it has worked hard to keep prices as low as possible due to the cost-of-iving crisis, and added that tickets were actually cheaper than five years ago. Ultimately, the council said it had decided to bring the display back to St Helen's as it meant there was less chance of the display being cancelled due to poor weather, and that's what, unfortunately, happened last year.
This year's display will be 'Night at the Movies'-themed and will see "glow entertainers, movie-themed attractions and walkabout acts". Little ones will also be able to meet their favourite film characters including Barbie, Spider-Man, Batman and his Batmobile, Wonder Woman, and Star Wars heroes like Boba Fett and Darth Vader, whilst local legend Kev Johns - who recently revealed he'd been battling cancer for over a year - will be presenting this year's event and there will also be "Hollywood-style searchlights" lighting-up the skyline, as well as music and dancing ahead of the main fireworks display.
